How do clinicals work?

The clinical portion of this program will see you develop leadership skills and practical, hands-on competencies as you obtain 1,250 clinical hours (750 hours FNP Direct Patient Care, 500 hours DNP Project and Clinicals). As a Walsh DNP-FNP student, you’ll be paired with a dedicated clinical placement coordinator who will collaborate with you to secure clinical sites and preceptors for your clinical courses. What is the program length?

This program contains a total of 63 credit hours and can be completed in as little as three years. Part-time and full-time options are available to accommodate students’ work schedules.

What Financial Aid options are available for students?

Are there any travel requirements for the program?

As part of the online DNP-FNP program, you’ll participate in two intensive FNP experiences during your second year. The first is conducted virtually, while the second is a two-day, on-campus intensive focused on hands-on skills assessments, workshops, training and more. Students will work with their academic advisor in scheduling this intensive to ensure accommodations are in place.

Online DNP-FNP Program Curriculum

Walsh's contemporary curriculum is aligned with AACN Essentials Standards, ensuring students are equipped with the core competencies required to prepare for their board certification. NURS 610 – Advanced Pathophysiology 3 sem. hrs.

This course focuses on the interrelationships of human biological systems, biochemical, genetic and cellular concepts, providing the framework for the study of advanced pathological concepts. Case studies illustrate theoretical concepts and assist in the application of theory to practice.

NURS 642 – Clinical Pharmacology

Clinical pharmacology builds upon NURS 612 Advanced Pharmacology. Specific requirements, responsibilities, interprofessionalism, and concerns as an APN prescriber, including safe prescription writing and medication management of patients throughout the life span, including persons with multiple chronic conditions (MCC), will be comprehensively reviewed.

NURS 647 – Care of the Adult and Elderly with Multiple Chronic Conditions

This course focuses on the intricacies and interrelationships between disease processes, human physiology, and pharmacologic and other treatment modalities inherent in the care of the adult or elderly patient with multiple chronic healthcare conditions (MCC). (150 clinical hours).

NURS 648A – FNP III: Capstone / Primary Care

This course serves as the capstone experience for the FNP program and synthesizes all material from previous FNP courses. In addition, this course will explore legal and governing issues that impact advance practice. Didactic and clinical experiences promote transition into practice. This course requires 300 clinical hours.
